ELEANOR CALBES, Voice Teacher/Vocal Coach

Ms. Calbes has resided in Canada since 1962 and in Mississauga
since 1970. She has sung major roles with the Canadian Opera Company
and other opera houses in Europe. She has performed with world famous
conductors in Europe, North America and Asia.
Ms. Calbes also performed on Broadway in musicals: "South
Pacific" in the Lincoln Centre;
"The King & I" in the N.Y. City Centre Opera;
"Lovely Ladies Kind Gentlemen" at the Majestic
Theatre. Ms. Calbes was chosen Mississauga's Musician of the Year
in 1986. In 1985, she founded the Mississauga City Centre Opera
(now Opera Mississauga) as a training ground for the many gifted
young singers in Mississauga. She retired as artistic director in
1993. In 1987, she formed a group that has since become CVS Musical
Productions, Inc., now called City Centre Musical Productions, a
non-profit community/charitable organization performing Broadway
musicals, concerts and operattas.
